Research is a fundamental need for a sensible decision-making process. Decision making is always facing uncertainty. There has never been a decision taken in which all factors can be fully controlled. These factors are the focus of a research, related to the decision-making process. Because research is an activity that relies heavily on curiosity, the very first step is to start asking questions.
But in fact what we call research it is often unable to satisfy limitless curiosity because restricted by the framework related to the financial management of such research. This situation that makes consulting jobs often face the situation, between doing a research and information gathering to prepare quick reports, as instructed by the client. What we need when dealing with that situation is, we understand well what our client wants from our works. So then we can still doing a proper research but aware of some limitations, and also knew better who’ll read the report. But at the same time we still can develop a “parking lot”, to store many questions related to subject of the research that might be useful in the future.
Warm regards.
